MWC Shiraz Mourvedre 2016 750ML

The Bottle: Australian Shiraz was the most popular wine in the U.S. for a bit, but like all trends it had a precipitous fall. A new style of Shiraz is emerging now which is far more balanced and refined.

The Producer: Founded in 1968, McPherson Wine Co. began by crafting classic Aussie wines. They launched MWC in 1994, a line of wines with European influence that focuses on rustic, earthy styles and complex character.

The Why:Though the backbone of MWC is 95% Shiraz, each bottle includes 5% Mourvedre which helps temper the jammy, robust Shiraz grape. What results is a rich wine driven by honeyed blackberry and spice with savory tannins on the finish.
