Château Thivin, Beaujolais Côte de Brouilly 2016 2018 750ML

The Bottle: Cru Beaujolais is wine made in one of ten designated areas in the region of Beaujolais. These wines often omit the word Beaujolais from their label in an effort to distance themselves from Nouveau Beaujolais.

The Producer: Built in the 15th century on an ancient volcano, Thivin is the oldest estate on Mont Brouilly. Farmer Zaccharie Geoffray purchased the château in 1877 and his family continues to run the domaine.

The Why:This sustainably-farmed wine (Thivin is in the process of converting to organic) is a classic version of Cru Beaujolais: Elegant yet heady floral aromatics mingling with intense red fruit and earthy fresh herbs.
