Ca' Del Monte Amarone Della Valpolicella 2010 750ML

The Bottle: Amarone is a rich wine made from partially dried grapes. The result is a ripe, full-bodied wine, low in acid and high in alcohol content. The price reflects the increase in grapes needed to produce the juice.

The Producer: Twenty hectares of vineyards are owned by brothers Umberto and Guiseppe Zaconte, the sixth generation to take on the winery. The 40 year old vines are planted in poor soil which yields nurtured fruit.

The Why:A wine high in alcohol content but still agile on the palate, the nose opens with plum, baking spices and warm vanilla. Loads of prune, cacao and stewed fruit on the palate with more baking spice on the rich finish.
